Optimal Automotive car remapping FAQ

If you're considering remapping your vehicle, an Optimal Automotive remap is a great choice. With over 100 Google five star reviews, you can trust us to provide a superior service.

In this post, we've compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about car remapping. If we've not covered your question, don't hestitate to get in touch. We're always happy to jump on the phone and help - it's all part of the service!

What does a remap cost?

This is the most commonly asked question. If you want a cheap remap, we're not the right company for you. If you value quality, customer service and aftercare...read on.

These are our most popular products and their prices. Stage 1 remaps are £299, Economy remaps £299, Stage 2 remaps £375 and AdBlue disable £349 (for off-road use only). For latest pricing and our other services, please visit our website. Combination packages are available at fantastic savings, such as £69 off a engine remap with a gearbox remap - ask for further details.

Company X charge this - will you beat it?

Our prices are not negotiable. We have priced our remaps fairly based on the outstanding quality of our service. If our pricing does not fit your budget, that is absolutely fine - there are many other cheaper options available.

What performance gain will I get?

By using our Remap Calculator, you can get a good idea of the expected performance gain from our remaps. Unless you purchase a custom road tune, you are buying a pre-developed and proven base map that is designed to acheive these figures on a happy and healthy engine.

How long does it take?

A typical stage 1 remap takes two hours. We often get asked why it takes so long, when company X can do it in forty five minutes. Well, the answer is down to our quality and thoroughness. Before remapping your vehicle, we perform an industry leading Pre Tuning Health Check including diagnostic test, test drive with datalogging and Dragy GPS timing. Once the remapping is completed, we do further test driving, datalogging and timing, to ensure everything is working as expected. You can read more about our process here or watch our TikTok videos to see us in action.

Can I wait and watch?

We do not have a waiting area, and it is unsafe to wait in a live garage. There is a McDonald's resturant conveniently located nearby, or we can drop you into Haverhill town center and collect you when the job is finished. For Haverhill residents, we offer a free collection and return service.

Do you offer a warranty?

We cannot warranty your vehicle, as it's prior condition (not the remap) will determine any issues you may experience. The majority of remapping companies do not offer warranties on any form of upgrades or modifications. If you are offered a warranty, we suggest asking for details of what is covered.

We do offer a lifetime warranty on the software, and a seven day no-quibble money back guarantee (terms and conditions apply).

If you are concerned about the suitability of your car for a remap, give us a call to discuss the recommended steps to take prior to tuning.

Will a remap void my warranty?

Most likely yes, but contact your warranty provider for a definitive answer. We cover this topic in a dedicated blog post.

Should I tell my insurer?

Yes, you should declare any modification to your insurer. You should also contact any other relevant third parties, such as finance companies and warranty providers.
